I got back last Sunday from my 10 day Archery Elk hunt at John Cole's and Hunters Rendezvous. There were 9 hunters the last 10 days and 8 of us shot Elk....  The prior 10 days at the camp 4 of 6 filled their tags...  All my buddies that shoot out at "Super" Dave Griffith during the summer scored...   Super, Pat Griffith, Todd Crawford, Mark Nizic, Erric Jones, Ron McClintock and myself..  One of the hunters from out of state shot a nice 325 6 point...   We all called in numerous Bulls even though the weather was challenging..  Pat and I were the last to kill...  We Went into Wednesday with the weather warming on us and Bugles were tough to come by...  But as always Pat came through and called in a nice 5 point for himself and a smaller 4X5 for me on Saturday night...

Here are pictures of my Archery Buck. He scores 193 4/8 gross with a 12" kicker, 30" wide with 40 1/2" of mass...  I was hunting with John Cole and my son Taylor. I saw 3 bucks that day that scored over 190" and a handful of bucks in the 170 - 180" range. John is careful to not hunt the young 180 - 205" bucks... The rule is they better be old .   This buck was in John's top 3 that he wanted me to hunt so it worked out well..I glassed him up about 3/4 of a mile away and we put the sneak on it. The buck had fed down into a dip so it made for a good sneak. Also the wind was blowing to cover up sound. I snuck into 30 yards and made a good shot. My son Taylor got most of the footage with my new Camcorder.

John had another archery elk hunter and he got a nice 5 point.

I can't wait for next year.

My wife and I had our first child just 5 weeks ago, so I knew that my time in the woods this elk season was going to be very limited. The 90+ degree temperatures we've had ever since season opened definitely made things more challanging, but I was able to locate this 5x5 and lure him in to a 7 yard shot!
